A client in Phoenix said my room smelled like her grandma's house
She said it right as she walked in for her facial, and I was using my standard lavender diffuser blend. I asked what her grandma's house smelled like specifically, and she said 'clean linen and a little bit of rose.' I switched to a linen and white tea oil mix for her next visit, and she said it completely changed how relaxed she felt. Has anyone else had a client's scent memory totally shift your approach to the treatment room?

That's actually a really smart way to handle it, but I'm stuck on the first part. Lavender doesn't smell like clean linen and rose at all, so her memory was mixing things up. It's wild how scent memory works like that, it's not always exact. You did the right thing by asking for details instead of just getting offended. Switching the blend based on what she said was perfect. It shows you really listened and adapted for her comfort.

Actually lavender can have a clean, almost soapy smell to some people, which might link to linen. Memory's weird like that.

Ever think scent memories were just random? That story makes me see how they can guide you.
