Shoutout to the guy at the Denver swap meet

I was at the Denver electronics swap meet last Sunday looking for parts. This older guy had a busted amplifier sitting on his table, said he already fixed it three times himself. How many of you bring your own failed gear to swap meets just to see if someone can spot the problem you missed?

bruh I literally did this exact thing last month with a dead oscilloscope I found on Craigslist. Brought it to a meetup thinking I was being clever and saving money on shipping, ended up looking like a total rookie when the guy next to me spotted a burnt resistor in like 30 seconds. My soldering job was so bad he actually laughed out loud, which was fair honestly.

lol the burnt resistor thing hit me hard. I used to think meetups were just for showing off gear and talking specs, but that story changed my mind completely. I went to a vintage synth repair meetup a few months back and some dude pointed out a cold solder joint on my power supply that would've fried the whole board eventually. Totally humbling but honestly the best way to learn. These guys have seen every kind of hack job and their eyes are trained for the stuff you'd miss at home.

At least he laughed, could've been a dead silence roast.
