Took me 5 years to realize I was stripping wire wrong

I always used the notch on my lineman's pliers to strip 12 gauge. Worked fine for years until a job last month where I had nicked 3 out of 12 wires on a panel changeout in a basement renovation in Cleveland. The homeowner's inspector caught it during rough-in and made me redo all the terminations. Took me another 30 minutes to fix everything. Now I just use a proper stripper tool for anything delicate. Anyone else have a habit that took way too long to break?
