Tried staying in bed an extra 15 minutes instead of getting up for the dawn robins and missed a cardinal pair fighting over a feeder.
Woke up to an empty yard and just a single confused sparrow, so next time I'm picking the birds over the snooze button, have you guys ever regretted skipping a morning?

Started hauling my garbage cans to the curb at 5am once because I thought Wednesday was pickup day. Turns out it was Tuesday so I just stood there in my bathrobe watching a stray cat judge my life choices while the neighbor's motion light flickered on for no reason. Never did see a single bird that morning but I did find out the raccoons had been using my recycling bin as a midnight snack bar. The cat eventually wandered off probably disappointed I wasn't offering breakfast.

Oh wow, I used to totally be on the side of "just sleep in, what's the big deal" but reading this makes me think maybe I've been missing something. There's something kind of magical about being out there at the crack of dawn when nobody else is around, even if it's just raccoon leftovers and a judgmental cat.

Oh man, I feel that so hard. @phoenixb34 your raccoon story cracked me up because I did something similar last spring - I skipped my usual sunrise walk to finish a show and ended up watching a squirrel terrorize my neighbor's cat while the most boring cloudy morning ever just sat there. Now I always get up if the birds are going, even if I'm grumpy about it, because missing that one good moment always stings way more than the extra sleep was worth.
