I keep seeing drafters skip the basic line weight check and it's costing them.
Just reviewed a set of plans from a new hire where every hidden line was drawn with the same weight as the object lines. The whole section view was a confusing mess. I had to send it back, which set the project back a full day. It's a five minute step in your template that prevents huge delays. Does anyone else make their trainees plot a test sheet on plain paper before any submittal?

Back in my first year, our lead made us plot a single door detail twenty times. The hinge line weight was off by a point and he'd crumple the whole sheet. Sounds harsh but I can still eyeball a 0.18mm line from across the room now. That kind of drill sticks with you.

Grantw32, that's actually a 0.25mm line weight for hinges (the old boss drilled that into us too).

Damn, that's brutal but it works. I keep a printed line weight chart taped to my monitor now. Saves the paper and the rage.
