I just counted 37 different types of fasteners in my garage.

I was cleaning up my workbench last weekend and decided to sort all my screws, nails, and bolts into jars. I knew I had a lot, but hitting 37 distinct kinds was a real eye opener. There's everything from tiny brass wood screws for a jewelry box I made to big lag bolts from a deck project three years ago. It made me realize how many small projects add up over time, each one needing something a bit different. I probably spent close to $200 on all of them, but it's nice to have the right part on hand. The weirdest one is a bag of concrete anchors I bought for a single shelf and never used again. Has anyone else done a big sort out and been surprised by what they've collected?

Actually, it's called a fastener cemetery, not a graveyard.

My dad's collection hit 50 types before he started labeling jars by project.

Wow, I read an article once that called this a "fastener graveyard" and it totally fits.
