Easel software wasted me $40 - here's why I regret it

I dropped $40 on a monthly subscription for ArtStudio Pro thinking it would save me time. Instead, the layers tool kept glitching and crashed mid-project 3 times. I lost 2 hours of shading work on a character piece. Has anyone else found a free alternative that actually handles layers decently?

Krita is free and handles layers just fine, never had a crash.
