Had to pick between a gas dryer and an electric one for my new place
I moved into a condo last month and the hookup was already set for electric. My old apartment had gas and I loved it. But the guy at the appliance store told me electric dryers take like twice as long now with the new energy rules. I went with electric anyway cause I didn't want to run a gas line. My jeans took 90 minutes to dry yesterday. Has anyone else regretted their dryer choice?

You got a 90 minute dry cycle? Is it a sensor dry or timed dry you're using? The sensor ones can be finicky but once you figure out the right setting they work way better than timed.

Wait, 90 minutes for jeans? That's almost double what my old gas dryer did for the same load. I don't get how new rules can make that big of a difference in drying time.

@shanelee it feels like lately a lot of things have gotten this weird trade off where you save a bit of energy but lose a ton of convenience. Maybe it's just me but I've noticed it with dishwashers too, longer cycles that don't clean as well as my old one did. Kinda makes you wonder if the math on these efficiency rules really adds up in real life.
