My dog slipped his harness at the park yesterday - what a mess
I was at Riverside Park near the big field and my lab mix just backed out of his new harness when a squirrel ran by. He took off across the grass and I had to chase him for 15 minutes before a jogger helped me corner him near the bathrooms. Anyone had luck with a specific harness style that's harder for escape artists to wiggle out of?

I was totally skeptical about the freedom harness for like a year (I thought it was just another gimmick, you know?), but then my buddy let me borrow his for a weekend trip and I was honestly blown away. It's the way it distributes weight across your shoulders instead of just digging into your hips - mine always left bruises after mile 8. I remember hitting a steep incline around mile 6 on the Blue Ridge trail and realizing I wasn't even thinking about my pack anymore, which never happens to me. The adjustable sternum strap was what sold me, honestly, because I've got a weirdly long torso and everything else just slides around. I straight up ordered my own the next day, which is rare for me since I usually wait forever to pull the trigger on gear.

Yeah I totally get that... I used to think it was overhyped honestly, like just another fancy strap setup. But once I tried one on a long hike I had to admit I was wrong about it.
