I was at a coffee shop in Seattle and overheard two people talking about how they got locked out of their email for three days because they used the same password everywhere.

Ugh, that is the worst feeling. I had the same thing happen with my old Twitter account years ago. A site I used got hacked, and because I used that password for everything, it was a total domino effect. Took me over a week to get everything sorted and changed. Have you started using a password manager yet?

Actually, a password manager was the first thing I set up after my own mess.

What about the recovery methods, though? Setting up a password manager is smart, but if you lose access to that master password, you're in a different kind of lockout. Makes you wonder if writing it down somewhere safe is actually the old-school backup we all need.
