I used to roll my eyes at security keys, but not anymore

For the longest time, I thought physical security keys were overkill for regular folks like me. Then my buddy got his accounts drained after a sim swap, and it scared me straight. I picked up a Yubikey on sale and set it up for my main accounts. Honestly, the peace of mind is worth every penny, and it's way easier than I expected. Small win, but I feel way more secure now.

Explain how you prioritized which accounts to secure with the key first. I'm juggling like a dozen logins myself and never know where to start, so hearing about that sim swap has me spooked. Did you focus on financial accounts primarily, or did you include things like email and social media too? Tell me if any services gave you grief during the setup process.

No way, a sim swap actually went through? My rule was email then money accounts, period. PayPal's verification process was ridiculously slow.

Ever have a false alarm from your own security setup?

Ugh that's terrifying after what patriciam51 said about PayPal. My motion sensor lights went off at 3am once and I nearly had a heart attack.
