Walked into a vendor booth at RSAC that had zero security messaging
I was at RSA Conference last month and stopped by this booth from a new endpoint detection tool. Their banner just said "Your Data, Our Platform" with a picture of clouds. No mention of threat detection, no mention of how they stop breaches, nothing. I asked the guy running the booth what they actually do and he gave me a 5 minute pitch about their cloud architecture. I walked away thinking about how many security tools sell features instead of outcomes. If a booth at the biggest security show can't tell me in 2 seconds how they make my environment safer, what does their website look like? Has anyone else seen vendors at conferences or in ads that completely miss the point of marketing security?

Did that guy at least offer to let you touch the cloud (you know, poke a server rack or something)? I once bought a "next-gen firewall" from a booth with a giant inflatable lock and zero mention of how it stops attacks, turns out the inflatable was the most secure part of their demo. It's weird how we'll spend an hour listening to some vendor drone on about microservices but bolt the second someone says "this tool stopped a ransomware attack in 45 seconds.

Did the guy at least give you a free stress ball shaped like a cloud? Sounds like their security pitch is about as clear as their booth design, which is basically just "trust us, we host stuff." I bet their website's FAQ section just says "we encrypt things probably.
