Only took me 8 years to realize my coin albums were damaging the edges

Found a 1917 mercury dime with green residue stuck to the rim and that's when I finally looked up PVC damage in old flips.

Is it really that bad though? I've got old albums that have been sitting around for decades and the coins still look fine to me.

Yeah I hear you, but give it another ten or fifteen years maybe

and honestly @clark.alex you might be onto something with that timeline, even pvc damage takes its sweet time to show up. i swapped out a whole binder of wheat cents last month and half of them had that sticky green gunk on the rims but i just shrugged and figured "well they're only worth a few cents each anyway." guess i'm the type to learn the hard way after i've already messed things up, like the time i tried to "clean" a 1909 vdb with vinegar... yeah we don't talk about that.
