My vintage bottle cap collection was a dusty mess until I tried a $20 jewelry cleaner from Amazon
I was about to give up on cleaning them one by one, but a 30-minute cycle in that little ultrasonic tub made them look factory new. Anyone have a better method for delicate, painted caps from the 1970s?

Seriously, a jewelry cleaner for bottle caps? They're just old bits of metal, not museum pieces. If a quick soak works, just stick with that.

Oh come on, they're way more than just old metal! For a real collector, getting that factory shine back is the whole point. A quick soak leaves gunk in the crimps and dulls the colors. Using the right tool shows you care about preserving the details, not just having a rusty pile in a jar. It's about respecting the craft that went into them, even if it seems silly to some people.

My grandma's 1970s Coke cap collection would call you a heathen, Wendy. I used to think like you until I saw the_miles' setup, and now I'm the guy using a soft toothbrush on a 1995 root beer cap. It's a slippery slope from a quick soak to buying magnifying glasses, I swear. For some of us, the weird little ritual of cleaning them right is half the fun of having them. Yeah it's extra, but so is having 500 bottle caps in your closet, so we're already past normal.
