Hot take: I thought collecting vintage bottle caps was a weird, dusty hobby until I found a 1930s Coca-Cola one in my grandma's attic.
It's from a local bottler that closed in 1942, and now I'm hooked on the history behind them. Anyone else get into a collection by total accident like that?

Totally get that. It's wild how a single object can open a whole door to the past. Makes you wonder about the people who actually held it first. That's the real treasure, not just the thing itself.

Look at it from the other side too, bettyroberts. We're all making future antiques right now. The coffee mug I'm holding, some person in 2124 might stare at it and try to figure out my whole life. Kinda makes you watch what you leave behind.

My buddy found a grocery list from 1998 in a library book last week. It was just eggs, milk, and a VHS tape of Titanic. He spent twenty minutes trying to guess the person's whole weekend based on those three items. Said it felt more real than any history book.
