Threw $80 at a bamboo monitor stand last month and my neck finally forgave me

I was hunching over my laptop on a stack of old textbooks (you know, the real cozy look) and my shoulders were killing me every afternoon. That little riser lifted my screen maybe 4 inches but it totally changed my posture at the desk. Has anyone else had good luck with a cheap ergonomic fix that turned out way better than expected?

Dude, the textbook stack setup is a classic but it really does wreck you. Same thing happened to me with a cheap gel pad, turned my desk into a slip n slide after a week. Grace89 is totally right about the Etsy wood rests being the only ones that stay dry, picked one up for like 25 bucks and it's been a game changer.

Ngl I had the opposite thing happen. Bought one of those cushy gel wrist rests for like 15 bucks and it turned my wrists into sweat sponges. Had to toss it after a week. But my buddy zip tied a cheap cutting board to his monitor arm and swears by it. Random fixes like that always hit different.

Man that sweat sponge thing is exactly what happened to me with a memory foam pad I got off Amazon. Three days in and it smelled like a damp locker room. I ended up switching to a wooden one from Etsy, cost me like 30 bucks but no sweat at all. Your buddy with the cutting board sounds like a genius though, I might have to try that with an old cheese board I have lying around. Sometimes the janky solutions are the best ones.

Etsy wood rests are the only ones that don't turn into swamp pads.
