Swapped my cluttered desk for a tiny trestle table in Portland last spring

I used to have this giant L-shaped desk covered in stacks of papers and random cords. Then I moved into a 400 square foot apartment in Portland and could only fit a 3 foot trestle table against the wall. Now I keep just my laptop, a single plant, and a small lamp on it - and honestly my focus is way better. Anyone else downsize their setup and surprisingly like it more?

Oh wow wait hold on. @martinez.kim you actually use a pile of books as a desk? That's insane. How do you not knock the whole thing over when you type? Ngl I tried using a stack of textbooks once as a monitor stand and it collapsed after five minutes. Honestly props to you for making that work though. I could never trust a book tower like that. My trestle table feels rock solid compared to that setup.

Wait, have you ever stopped to think that maybe Kim's book pile is just really well balanced? I bet it's like a game of Jenga every time they need to grab a book from the bottom. I once tried using a stack of old encyclopedias as a footrest and my chair rolled back and the whole thing crumbled like a cookie. Honestly, at this point my "desk" is just a cheap folding table with a wobble that drives me nuts, but at least it doesn't require an engineering degree to keep standing.

My desk is just a pile of books now, so I'm almost there.
