Wasted $70 on a 'weighted' blanket that was basically just a regular blanket with sand bags sewn in

I got this blanket off some random ad because I wanted that deep pressure sleep thing everyone talks about. First night it felt okay but by morning the filling had all shifted to the bottom corners. I tried to shake it back even but it just clumped up again after a few hours. Called customer service and they basically said tough luck since I opened the packaging. Now I'm stuck using it as a weird lap pad while I watch TV. Has anyone actually found a weighted blanket that doesn't turn into a lumpy mess after a week?

Its always the same story with stuff like this. You pay for a solution to a simple problem and get some cheap product that was barely tested. Most of these companies know the filling will shift after a week but they bank on you not wanting to deal with the return hassle. The whole market is full of this stuff right now, not just blankets but mattresses, pillows, even chairs. People are paying for the idea of comfort more than the actual thing.

Bought one from Target that had glass bead fill instead of sand. Different material. Total game changer. The beads are tiny enough they don't clump or shift around. Had mine for over a year now. Still lays flat and even every night. Cost about the same as yours but actually works.

You ever notice how we're all out here basically running experiments on our own sleep gear? Like we're amateur scientists except the lab is our bedroom and the grant money is our own wallets. This made me think of when I tried using a old memory foam pillow that had basically turned into a rock after two years. Ended up using it as a doorstop for the garage. @the_william is right that the market is full of stuff that's more about the idea than the reality, but sometimes you get lucky and stumble onto something that actually works. I might have to check out this glass bead thing next time I'm at Target.
