Used to be a fleece blanket person... now I can't stand the static shock

Well @drew55, I actually miss the days when you just got a little shock and moved on, now everything needs a ground wire.

The static from fleece gets way worse once the fabric starts pilling too. That's when it really sticks to everything and shocks you every time you touch a door knob. I've had better luck washing new fleece blankets three or four times before they settle down. Your dryer settings make a huge difference too, over drying them seems to crank up the static electricity. A vinegar rinse in the wash helps a lot of folks but I've never tried it myself. Maybe give yours a few more washes before you give up on fleece entirely.
