I was totally wrong about fleece blankets for years

I always thought fleece was just cheap and pilled up after a few washes, so I stuck with my old cotton quilts. Then my sister got me a higher quality one for my birthday last month and it's actually softer after 5 washes, not worse. Anyone else have a blanket material they changed their mind on?

Wool was that material for me, honestly thought it was scratchy and uncomfortable. Picked up a merino throw from a thrift store last winter out of curiosity and now I'm half convinced the sheep are secretly plotting to make all other blankets obsolete. Fleece still pilling after 3 washes in my experience though, maybe I'm just buying the wrong kind.

Heard some alpaca wool fans say the same thing about merino. Never looked back.
