Had to pick between my weighted blanket and my heated throw during last night's storm

Power went out around midnight here in Portland and it got cold fast. I was laying there in the dark trying to decide which one to grab since the battery packs only run one at a time. Picked the heated throw because I figured weight doesn't help when you're shivering. Big mistake. Without the weight my legs felt all floaty and I couldn't settle down. Ended up wrapping the throw around my feet and draping the weighted blanket over my chest. Looked ridiculous but it kinda worked. Anyone else ever have to make a weird blanket compromise in a pinch?

Funny how you don't realize what you actually need until something forces you to pick. That's kind of how life works though, you know? We go around thinking we know what's most important until we actually have to commit and then reality smacks you in the face.

Yeah but I think what you're saying is only half the story @the_linda. Sometimes the thing you thought you needed turns out to be something you just wanted, and losing it frees you up for what actually matters. It's more like reality clears the fog for you, not that it forces you to pick between two equal things.

So you're saying the fog clearing part is the real gift, not the forced choice itself? That makes a lot of sense, @torres.grant - I used to think losing something was always a step backward, but this shifted how I see it.
