Miss the old days of simple perms and wet sets
I learned at the Paul Mitchell school in Chicago back in '08. Everything was about roller sets and marcel curling irons. Now I see stylists reaching for a flat iron for every single client. Had a mom bring in her 8 year old last week asking for a keratin treatment. That never would have happened when I started. Where do you all draw the line on what treatments are appropriate for young kids?

Respectfully disagree... that keratin treatment probably saved that mom some serious mornings.

@phoenix_grant34 that's a fair point but kids don't need those chemicals yet.

Hot take - kids actually don't need all that stuff loaded onto their hair. My niece got a keratin treatment when she was 12 and it thinned her hair out for months. Totally messed up her natural texture too. Sure it saves time in the morning but that's a temporary fix for a long term issue. In my experience, a simple routine with good conditioner and a detangling spray works way better for kids. Maybe wait until they're older and actually ask for it, you know?
