Just found out drone mapping can spot foundation issues before they even crack

Last Thursday I watched a demo in Phoenix where a guy flew a $1,200 drone over a 10-acre site and it flagged three low spots in the soil that would have meant a $40k fix if they'd poured concrete on top without catching it - anyone else using aerial surveys for pre-con checks?

Totally gutted I missed that demo, sounds like it would have saved my buddy a ton of grief. He poured a slab last year on what looked like solid ground and six months later there's a crack you can fit your finger in. Yeah, aerial surveys for pre-con checks just seem like basic sense now. It is wild how much money you can lose by skipping a quick flyover. Hope more people catch on before they learn the hard way like my friend did.

And that's the thing about ground, you never really know what's underneath until something gives. I had a neighbor who planted a big oak right over an old septic tank he didn't know about, three years later the tree just tipped over one afternoon. Feels like half the headaches I see come from folks assuming what's below the surface, when a little peek would have saved the whole job.

Man, I had a buddy who skipped the drone survey on a commercial garage slab and ended up spending almost double what he saved on the flyover to fix the cracks later. He still brings it up every time we see a drone.
