That $30 dash cam caught something weird on I-75 last week

Pulled the footage from Friday night and saw a black SUV matching a description from a missing person case. Did anyone else catch that convoy rolling through around midnight?

Whoa, that's wild. I'd save that footage to a separate drive right now if you haven't already. Make a copy of the raw file before anything else. I've dealt with stuff like this before and local police might want the original metadata intact. Describe the exact time and mile marker in your notes too. Did you catch any license plates or just the general shape of the SUV?

Hold on, are we sure this is that serious? I mean "whoa that's wild" is one way to look at it but maybe we're jumping to conclusions. I've seen plenty of dashcam footage that looks crazy at first but turns out to be nothing. Like a trash bag blowing across the road or a deer. Unless that SUV was doing something obviously illegal like running someone off the road or dumping something, it's just a weird moment caught on tape. Plus, calling the cops over every random thing you see on the highway is a good way to get them annoyed at you. I'd hang onto the footage just in case but I wouldn't go making backup copies and taking notes like it's a crime scene yet. Maybe just ask around on a local Facebook group first and see if anyone else saw it.

Well damn, @adamthompson is right about saving the raw file though. But ericj45 has a point about not jumping the gun. Look, I get wanting to be cautious but calling 911 over every weird thing on the highway is how you get put on a list. Save the clip, ask around locally, and if nobody else saw anything sketchy then let it be. The cops have better things to do than look at your dashcam of a trash bag or whatever that was. Keep the footage in case it turns out to be something later, but don't go full detective mode yet.
