Fixing wind mess on concrete with a tarp barrier
I was doing a garage floor last week and the wind picked up right as I started to finish. It made the surface dry too fast, leaving a rough patch that needed grinding later. Now I keep a roll of plastic sheeting and a few wooden stakes in my truck. Before the pour, I look at which way the wind usually blows and set up a simple screen. It blocks the air just enough to keep the concrete from skinning over early. This way, I get a consistent finish without those dry spots. It saved me on a big slab job yesterday. Give it a shot if you work in windy areas.

Last July, I saw a crew grinding down a whole driveway because of wind crust. Tbh, I had no idea wind could ruin concrete that badly until reading this. Kinda like how @patricialee had mulch in the pool, but way more costly to fix. Setting up a tarp screen seems so obvious now, but it's crazy how many people don't do it.

Yeah, it's amazing how many problems come from ignoring simple wind.

That time the wind blew my neighbor's fresh mulch into my pool comes to mind. Made a huge mess, but a tarp fence fixed it for the next load. Sometimes the simplest fixes are the best.
