Wasted $45 on that express lane toll pass - total scam in rush hour
Bought one of those FasTrak things for I-75 thinking it would save me 20 minutes each way. Nope. First week it worked okay but now everyone else has one too and the express lane is just as backed up as the regular lanes. Plus they charged my card $3.50 just for the privilege of owning the transponder. Anyone else find these things completely useless or am I just picking the wrong times?

Yeah the $3.50 transponder fee is where they get you, that's just robbery.

Is $3.50 really that bad though? I use my transponder almost every day for work and it saves me from waiting in those cash lines forever. That fee is like a couple coffees once and done. The time it saves me is way more valuable than the cost. You probably spend more on gas idling in the toll booth line than the fee itself.

$3.50 is nothing compared to what they charge in other states for the same thing. Have you looked at what Florida or New York charges for their transponders and monthly fees? That $3.50 would seem like a deal if you saw some of those bills. And how much time do you actually waste sitting in the cash lane versus just breezing through with the transponder? I bet if you added up all those extra minutes it would be way more annoying than the fee.
