The hidden back road I found 3 years into my commute
I was stuck on the highway for 45 minutes every morning until I spotted a tiny unmarked gravel road off exit 12. Took a chance and it shaved 20 minutes off my drive and I see maybe 3 cars the whole way. Anyone else stumble onto a random shortcut that just works?

Sharing good shortcuts builds trust in a community.

People are probably gonna tell you to keep it secret but that's missing the real point. The reason that road works is because nobody else uses it, and the second you or anyone else posts it online it's done for. Way too many people ruin their own good thing by bragging about it. Keep your mouth shut, enjoy the 20 minutes, and let everyone else sit in traffic.

Oh man, that reminds me of something that happened to my friend Tom. He found this perfect little cutoff through an old farm road that cut his drive from 45 minutes down to like 15. He swore everyone to secrecy, only told his wife and his brother. Well his brother mentioned it at a party one time and suddenly a bunch of people started using it. Within a month the county found out and put up a gate with a big sign that said private road no trespassing. Now Tom sits in traffic with everyone else and he still gets mad about it every time we talk. So yeah, I get why people get protective over stuff like that.
