The day I was sure my comic shop guy was messing with me on purpose
I had a rough week a few months ago where every Wednesday felt like a disaster for my pull list. Three weeks in a row, my shop in Portland forgot to set aside the new issues I asked for, like the new X-Men run. I walked in last Thursday ready to be annoyed, and my guy Dave just handed me a stack with a note that said "sorry" in sharpie. Turned out he accidentally sold my reserved copies to a customer who had a kid having a bad day, and he felt bad about it. He even threw in a back issue I'd been hunting for since 2019 for free. It was such a weird flip from the usual frustration that I actually laughed about it. Has anyone else had a shop worker go out of their way to make up for a mess up like that?

Ha, that's a solid recovery from Dave. Most shops would just shrug and say "we'll order another copy," but throwing in a back issue you actually wanted shows he pays attention to his regulars.

That "he pays attention to his regulars" part is exactly it. One time my guy messed up my hold and then surprised me with a variant cover I'd mentioned wanting months earlier, totally unprompted.
