I finally figured out how long it takes to get through a long-run comic series
I decided to read the entire run of Cerebus from start to finish because I heard it was a masterpiece. It took me over 14 months and I had to read about 6,000 pages across all 300 issues. Has anyone else tried something like this and ended up way past your original time estimate?

Used to think speed reading comics was possible but Cerebus is so dense it forced me to slow way down and actually take breaks. Your mileage may vary but 14 months sounds about right for that kind of commitment.

Respectfully, it's still just funny pictures with words.

Funny pictures with words can be deep art if you let it be, and Cerebus is proof of that. The way Dave Sim packed philosophy, politics, and character work into those 300 issues is honestly unmatched in comics. Calling it just funny pictures kind of misses the whole journey and the craft behind it.
