The guy who taught me how to order coffee properly

There's this older gentleman at the Daily Grind on 3rd Ave who always orders the same thing - a black pour-over, no questions, no fuss. One Tuesday last month I was staring at the menu like an idiot for five minutes and he just leaned over and said 'pick one, commit, and don't apologize for it.' I thought it was rude at first but now I just walk up and say what I want. Has anyone else had a regular customer or barista give them advice that actually changed how you handle your coffee routine?

That "pick one, commit, and don't apologize for it" line is pretty solid actually. I think it applies to way more than just coffee. People spend too much time waffling over small decisions like it actually matters. The real kicker is nobody cares what you order, they just notice when you look unsure. Once you stop second guessing yourself you realize most of life is just making a choice and sticking with it.

Noah's right, that line about nobody caring what you order hits home. I used to hem and haw at the deli counter, and I guarantee the kid behind the register was only thinking about his break, not my sandwich choices. Once I started just saying "turkey on rye, mustard, no fuss" I felt a little silly for ever making it into a big production. It's funny how a little thing like that can make the rest of your morning feel less cluttered.
