Switched my usual booth seat for the counter at Blue Bottle in Brooklyn

I always grab the back corner booth to avoid people, but last Tuesday all booths were taken so I sat at the counter. Ended up chatting with a retired librarian who told me she's been coming there every morning for 12 years and knows the baristas' coffee orders by heart. Has anyone else had a random seating change turn into something unexpected?

I mean you're right that leo_fisher, the booth usually feels safer. I had a similar thing happen at a diner near me where I took a seat at the counter and ended up getting a solid tip on a good local plumber from the guy next to me. It's funny how just changing one little thing like that can open up a whole new conversation you weren't expecting.

Nah, the booth is where it's at - you got lucky this time.

Twelve years? That's a long time to sit at any one coffee shop.
