Wasted $60 on a fancy coffee scale that can't handle steam

I bought this sleek Acaia scale for pour overs, thinking the built-in timer would be a game changer, but after three weeks the display fogged up from sitting near my espresso machine. Now I'm back to my old $15 scale from Amazon that just works. Anyone else had a high-end coffee tool fail in a basic way?

Funny how the cheap stuff always outlasts the fancy ones, isn't it.

My old G-Shock from 15 years ago still works fine after I accidentally put it through the washer and dryer twice. I bought a fancy Seiko once that stopped keeping time after a month of regular wear. Ended up sending it back and just stuck with the cheap Casio. Sometimes the simple stuff is built tougher because less can go wrong with it. I still wear that G-Shock when I work on my truck or go hiking. The fancy watch sits in a drawer now.
