Serious question, has anyone ever had a barista critique their home brewing method?

I was at a cafe in Portland and the barista asked how I made my morning cup. When I said I used a French press, he looked horrified and said, 'That's just cowboy coffee with extra steps.' I've been second-guessing my whole routine for a week now.

Try getting judged for using a Keurig at a fancy coffee shop. The guy behind the counter actually sighed and asked if I enjoyed drinking hot brown water. I went home and stared at my machine for a good ten minutes, wondering if it knew how much it had let me down.

Seriously stared at your own coffee maker for ten whole minutes? That barista got in your head, man. I'd have told him his fancy pour-over looks like a science experiment gone wrong.
