Just realized that VS Code extension I ignored for months actually saves me an hour a day
I've been writing code for like 6 months now and kept seeing everyone talk about this Prettier extension for formatting code. I thought it was just some fancy tool for people who are too lazy to hit tab or space their stuff out. Then last week I was working on a project with like 15 files and kept messing up brackets and indentation. Finally installed Prettier and it just fixed everything in one click. I wasted so much time manually aligning stuff. Has anyone else fought against a tool forever then finally gave in and realized it was actually useful?

You thought it was just some fancy tool for people who are too lazy to hit tab" - that line got me. I fought Prettier for like a year because I thought the same thing. What finally made you actually try it? Was it just hitting a breaking point with that project or did someone specifically talk you into it?

Too lazy to hit tab" got me too, because that was literally me for way too long. What finally pushed me over the edge was when I spent a whole afternoon arguing with a coworker about whether to use single or double quotes in our style guide. We both thought we were right, you know? Then a senior dev just ran Prettier on the whole file and it was done (and neither of us liked the result but at least we stopped fighting).

@wendy628 honestly it was watching a coworker fix a whole messy merge conflict in like 2 seconds flat with Prettier. That sold me. No more fighting over where commas go.
