PSA: A conversation with a retired aerospace machinist made me check my feeds again

I was talking to a guy named Dave at a shop in Dayton last week who used to run CNC mills for jet engine parts. He told me he always set his feed rates 15% lower than the book says because of tool deflection at high speeds. It made me realize I've been pushing my machines too hard on long runs, and now I'm checking my settings more closely. Has anyone else adjusted feeds after hearing from an old-timer?

Surface finish might actually improve with slower feeds too.

Forget the finish, slower feeds can actually save tool life too.

Yeah, less heat means less wear for sure.
