Best shift I've had in months was a Tuesday morning

Got a rush order for 50 brackets with this weird 3D contour on the edge. Set up the Haas VF-2 with a bull nose end mill at 8 AM and ran the first part in 12 minutes flat... no chatter, perfect surface finish. The previous guy had the feeds and speeds all wrong, so I bumped the RPM to 2500 and slowed the feed to 15 IPM. Anyone else ever nail a setup on the first try like that?

Are you sure about 2500 RPM with a 15 IPM feed? That seems slow.

C'mon, I've run this exact setup on a Bridgeport with a 3/4" HSS endmill in 6061 and it worked fine. The chip load comes out to about 0.0012 per tooth which is actually pretty decent for a roughing pass. If anything, you could probably bump the feed up to 18 or 20 IPM and still be okay depending on depth of cut.
