Overheard a guy at the farmers market say he stopped eating beef 2 years ago and it saved him $600 a year
That got me thinking about how much of my grocery budget goes to meat, and after adding it up last night I'm wondering if cutting meat back could help both my wallet and the planet, anyone else try eating less meat for climate reasons and see real savings?

Ha, no way. Swapping out meat actually cost me more money. I tried going vegetarian for a few months and ended up buying way more expensive stuff like quinoa, fancy beans, and fresh produce that went bad before I could eat it. Ground beef is still cheaper per pound than most of that plant-based stuff near me. Plus you lose the convenience factor. A rotisserie chicken feeds me for three days with zero effort. All that chopping and soaking and prepping just to save a couple bucks? Not worth it in my book.

$600 a year? That's wild.

Have you looked into if your insurance company does any kind of bundle discount? I had the same shock until I realized my homeowners and car insurance were separate, and when I combined them with the same provider, my car rate dropped like $200 a year just for that. Also check your deductible - I bumped mine from $500 to $1000 and it saved me a chunk without really changing much since I rarely file claims anyway. Might be worth shopping around too, I switched to Progressive a couple years ago and it was way cheaper than what I had with State Farm lol.
