Power washer blew a seal mid-job yesterday and I was stuck

I was cleaning out a heavy creosote buildup on a big masonry stack over in Oakwood yesterday, about 2 hours in, and my little electric power washer just started leaking like crazy from the pump. It was one of those cheap models I got off Amazon for like $90 last spring, and I knew it wasn't gonna last forever but I figured I'd get more than 6 months out of it lol. Water was spraying everywhere except where I needed it, so I had to pack up early and leave the job unfinished. The homeowner was cool about it, said stuff happens, but I felt bad having to come back today with a borrowed washer to finish up. Anyone else have a key piece of gear crap out on them right in the middle of a job?

Hang onto that cheap washer for parts though. Honestly those budget models are designed to fail so you gotta buy another one, its a racket. I had a $300 simoniz from home depot blow the o-ring on the third use and i about lost it. Spend the money on a decent unit once and you wont be scrambling for a loaner mid job.

Oh man, that's wild about the shop vac. I swear I'm doomed with budget tools. Bought a $50 pressure washer from a flea market last year, and on the FIRST spray the wand flew off and soaked me head to toe. Looked like I went swimming in my driveway. My neighbor pulled up and asked if I was trying to water myself. So yeah, I'm with you on keeping junk for parts, that o-ring trick is a lifesaver. At least my washer now doubles as a lawn sprinkler when it's feeling feisty.
