Took me four months to fix a broken cooler door gasket

I kept wondering why my walk-in was cycling so much and the compressor sounded rough. Checked the coils, cleaned the condenser, even replaced the thermostat. Then one slow Tuesday I noticed a tiny gap in the gasket near the bottom hinge. I finally swapped it out and the compressor hasn't kicked on as much since. Anybody else spend way too long chasing a dumb fix like that?

Man, that's brutal lmao. Four months is a long time to be fighting a ghost like that. I had a similar thing with a residential fridge once where the door seal was just barely not making contact in one spot, drove me nuts for weeks. You always feel like a dummy when it's something that simple.

Did you try checking the evap fan motor? Those things can be finicky and cause temp swings that make the compressor run crazy. Worth a look before you tear your hair out more.

Four months of fighting a ghost" - that's about right. @milesbailey has a point though, those evap fans can be real sneaky little gremlins.
