Appreciation post: What my pottery hobby showed me about carpet feel
I mean, I've been doing pottery on weekends, and idk, maybe it's just me but handling clay got me paying attention to carpet fibers. When I was installing a loop pile carpet, I saw how the texture changes with pressure. It's like how clay responds to your touch. That helped me be more careful with my knee kicker, and it turned out smoother. Just a small thing, but it stuck with me.

Wow, pottery school is the weirdest career path to carpet installation.

Guess the clay skills transfer well to carpet fibers.

I mean, the pottery school thing isn't that weird if you think about it. Like, in pottery you're always measuring and cutting clay to make it fit a mold or a wheel. Putting in carpet is kinda the same, you have to cut and shape the carpet to cover a floor right. Both need you to be good with your hands and notice the small stuff, like smooth edges or tight seams. Idk, maybe it's just me but I see how working with clay could help you handle carpet rolls. It's not as out there as it sounds.
