Overheard a recruiter saying job hopping is the only way to get raises now
I was grabbing coffee last Tuesday and heard this recruiter tell someone that staying at a company more than 2 years is basically throwing money away. She said loyalty doesn't pay anymore, only switching jobs does. But I've been at my current place for 6 years and I've gotten steady 4-5% raises each year plus a promotion. Plus I don't have to keep learning new systems or rebuilding trust every 18 months. Am I the only one who thinks the constant job hopping advice is overblown?

Man that's a solid point, seriously. I've seen coworkers burn out from constantly starting over at new places just for an extra few grand when the old system was working fine.

Yeah totally agree, @craig.john's buddy's story hits close to home. I did the same thing and the new place was a total disaster, way more stress than it was worth.

Tbh I had a buddy who jumped ship three times in two years and ended up hating every new place.
