Just found out most job descriptions are written by AI now
I was scrolling through job boards last night and noticed a bunch of listings sounded exactly the same - same phrases, same structure. Did some digging and found a stat that says over 40% of companies now use AI tools like ChatGPT to write their job posts. That explains why every listing wants "rockstar synergy" and "dynamic problem solvers." Has anyone else seen this trend and adjusted how they apply?

Oh man, this is totally one of those things that bleeds into everyday life now too. I swear I called my cable company last week and the customer service script they read from sounded like an AI got told to "sound friendly but efficient" and then gave up halfway through. Same with those automated texts from doctors offices, they all have this weird sameness to them. And @patricia558 is spot on, hiring managers are just as checked out as the bots writing the posts. It's like we're all stuck in this loop where nobody reads the stuff the machines write, but we still have to pretend it matters. Just another way the internet is making everything feel like a copy of a copy, you know?

A buddy of mine spent two weeks tailoring his resume to match a job posting that kept talking about "leveraging synergies across teams." He even made a spreadsheet to line up keywords. Then he got to the interview and the hiring manager admitted they'd never even read the full job description because the AI wrote it. They just wanted someone who could actually show up on time and not be weird. He was so pissed he walked out halfway through the interview.

Oh man, that's rough. Your friend did the smart thing by playing their game, but hiring managers don't even read that stuff half the time. Next time tell him to just spend an hour matching key skills and use the rest of his time making sure he comes across as reliable and normal in the room.
