Hit 500 active users on our app and I'm honestly shocked it happened
I mean, we launched our little budgeting tool for freelancers in Calgary about four months ago. It was just me and my co-founder coding in my basement, thinking maybe we'd get a hundred people tops from our friend groups. We hit 500 active users this morning. That number is small for some, but for us it's huge. It means people are actually using it, not just signing up and leaving. I think the key was adding that simple feature to track tax holdbacks, which a plumber told us was his biggest headache. It's not a fancy thing, but it solved a real problem. Now I'm just staring at the dashboard, wondering how we keep them and what to build next. Has anyone else hit a small milestone that made the whole thing feel suddenly real?

What did you do to actually talk to those first users? We got stuck at like 200 for ages until we started calling people who quit. Found out our main feature was confusing as hell. Fixed that one screen and it was like a switch flipped. Solving the real headache is always the thing.

Honestly I used to think you needed a ton of features to get people to stick around. But seeing you hit 500 just by fixing that one tax thing totally changed my mind.

Oh wow, that's awesome! My friend runs a tiny pottery studio, and she told me she cried when she sold her 50th mug to someone she didn't know. It was just this moment where it stopped being a hobby for her friends and became a real thing. Hitting a number you never thought you'd see just changes everything. It sounds like you really nailed it by just fixing that one annoying problem people actually have.
