Heads up about those new 'quick-dry' camp towels
I bought a popular brand's quick-dry towel for a trip to Yosemite last year and it worked great. I used it again on a trip last month and it felt totally different, like a cheap car wash rag. The towel lost almost all its softness and took over an hour to dry instead of 20 minutes. I think they changed the material but kept the same name and packaging. Has anyone else noticed a big drop in quality with their camp towels recently?

Yeah, that's called "skimpflation" lol. Companies quietly use cheaper materials to cut costs.

Ever notice how your favorite snack just doesn't hit the same? I swear my go-to granola bars are now mostly oats and air, with the chocolate chips getting rarer every year. You're totally right, @dianahayes, skimpflation is everywhere. My towels feel like sandpaper after a few washes, and even trash bags seem thinner. It's like we're all paying the same price for a worse version of stuff we used to love.

My mom's old cookie sheets from the 90s are still going strong, but the ones I bought last year are already warped and rusting. They just don't make things to last anymore. Even basic kitchen stuff feels flimsy now. It's frustrating when you have to replace things every couple years.
