Old timer in the truck bay taught me more than any training video ever did
Guy named Jerry who's been running cable since the 80s showed me how to fish a line through a finished wall with a coat hanger and some tape. Took him 4 minutes while I was ready to cut a hole. Anyone else got a mentor who made you feel like you knew nothing?

Did Jerry show you the trick where you cut the coat hanger at an angle to make a little hook on the end? I had a guy named Mike show me that, and it saved me like 20 minutes of swearing at a wall. The only thing I'd add is that you gotta tape the wire to the hanger really tight or it'll slip off halfway through the fish, which I learned the hard way.

That tape slippage is a brutal lesson, I've been there too. I once lost a wire so deep in the wall I swear it started a new family in there. Now I use electrical tape and wrap it like I'm mummifying a mummy.
