The high school shop class that fixed my drawer slide installs

Stopped by a local vocational school last month to donate some leftover hinges, and the instructor showed me their jig setup for mounting slides. It's basically a simple spacer block with a clamp, but it took all the guessing out of the height. I built three kitchen drawer sets using it this week and everything lined up on the first try. Has anyone else picked up a trick from a school or training program that beat their old method?

You ever notice how the simplest tools end up being the ones you swear by later? I had a similar moment years ago when a buddy who teaches welding showed me his trick for squaring up a cabinet frame using nothing but a couple of cheap clamps and a speed square. Now I never touch a framing square for drawer boxes, because that little jig does the job faster and my corners come out dead on every time. It’s funny how you spend years fighting with your own method, then one afternoon in a dusty shop changes everything.
