So I drafted a simple contract myself for a $500 freelance job in Phoenix

The client tried to add a bunch of extra work later for free, but my clause about 'scope of work' saved me. Anyone else have a story about a basic contract clause that really paid off?

Honestly, a $500 job? That's like a weekend side thing. Was the extra work they asked for really that big of a deal, or were they just trying to get a small tweak for free? Sometimes people just don't communicate well. What exactly did they try to add on?

Well, in my case it was asking for a whole new page layout after the design was locked in. You know, the classic "while you're in there" move. I've learned to price my weekend side things like they're my main thing, just to avoid that exact talk. It's amazing how a small budget can come with the biggest change orders.

Ugh, good thing you had that clause.
