Found out I was signing contracts without reading the indemnity clause for three years

A client fought me over a $4,200 repair bill last spring and their lawyer pointed to a line I'd glossed over, so now I check every agreement like it's hiding a landmine-anyone else learn this the hard way?

Honestly, reading that made my stomach drop. Three years of signing blind is wild, especially with a legal landmine like that hiding in plain sight. Ngl, that lawyer finding your oversight sounds like a nightmare scenario, but good on you for catching it now. Tbh, I think most people learn this lesson the hard way, like you said, and it's usually after a big bill or a courtroom scare. Contracts are evil little documents, and one line can screw you over faster than you can blink. Glad you wised up before it got even worse.

@ray_miller84 contracts are evil little documents for sure. How many pages did that lawyer dig through before they found the one line that could screw you? Did they pull out a highlighter the second you walked in the room and point to it like they won the lottery? I keep a yellow marker in my glove box now and go through every page with it after a dispatcher tried to slip a "binding arbitration only" clause into a lease agreement. Makes me wonder how many other people are out there signing stuff they have no clue about.
