Compared boilerplate lease vs a custom one for my small shop and saved $300 in hidden fees

I needed a lease for my workshop space in Austin and almost just signed the landlord's standard form. But a buddy who runs a repair shop told me to look at a customized version from a local legal service. That custom lease had a cap on maintenance charges that the boilerplate didn't mention. Has anyone else found big savings by paying for a tailored contract instead of using the free ones online?

Always used the free ones until my buddy got burned by a hidden fee.

Yeah I remember reading about it on some subreddit where people were posting their stories. @taylorellis it's wild how some of those sites will charge you after you've already put in all your info. Like you think it's free and then boom a charge shows up on your card. I've been pretty lucky so far sticking to the ones that are clearly just free no strings attached.

Oh man, you're so right lol. I got hit with one of those hidden fee sites last year when I was looking for a simple tool to check my credit score. I filled out everything and the next thing I know there's a $39.99 charge on my bank statement. Had to call my bank to dispute it and everything. Now I always check the comments on Reddit before I put my info anywhere, learned that lesson the hard way haha.
