Talked to a cashier at Aldi who had a whole system for meal planning

She said she plans dinners around what's in the clearance meat section and saves about $40 a week that way. Anyone else use store specific tricks like that to cut down their grocery budget?

Speaking of time, my neighbor swears by shopping at like 10pm because that's when the markdown guy puts out the bread and pastries. She freezes everything and hasn't paid full price for bagels in like two years.

Okay I'll be real, @nora110 this actually changed my mind. I used to think the whole clearance aisle thing was just for people with too much time on their hands, but your neighbor's freezer trick sounds genuinely genius. Bagels are expensive, haha.

Oh man, people act like meal planning is some kind of rocket science now. I get it, saving 40 bucks a week is cool and all, but that cashier probably spends an extra hour digging through clearance bins to make it happen. My time is worth something too, you know? I just buy whatever is on sale in the regular aisles and call it a day. It's groceries, not a side hustle.
